Statement by Environmental Defense President Fred Krupp On New BP-DuPont Biofuels Partnership
“To transform biofuels from a niche additive into a fuel that replaces large quantities of oil, we need major companies like BP and DuPont to join with America’s farmers. For biofuels to realize their full potential, we need a policy that measures fuels in terms of carbon content, and gives low carbon biofuels an edge over fossil fuels. Low carbon biofuels can help us overcome three enormous national challenges: stopping global warming, reducing our dependence on imported oil, and revitalizing our rural economy.
